Course Objectives
- After finishing the 1st year, the student must have a basic knowledge of Optics, identification of Ophthalmic lenses, characteristics & types of lenses, thorough knowledge of Dispensing optics, lensometer,Basic Sciences.
- After finishing 2nd year: the student shall know about refractive errors, visual optics, basic correction of refractive error, OPD procedures & history taking, Retinoscopy, basic instrumentation, lens dispensing, progressive lenses, ophthalmic optics.
- After finishing 3rd year: complete patient examination, correction of refractive errors, prescribing spectacles & contact lenses, contact lens fitting, diagnosis of glaucoma, cataract & other ophthalmic conditions, diagnosis & treatment of Amblyopia, squint, complete instrumentation handling, clinical procedures like diplopia testing, perimetry etc.
- Final year: application of the knowledge acquired in last three years, practice management, business aspects of the practice management, complete independent handling of patient.
